Rest in Peace, Jonathan Lewis, Jr.
If you don't know who Jonathan Lewis, Jr. is, or that he is white, you can thank our biased media landscape.
A couple of weeks ago I came across a video on X (formerly Twitter) of someone being swarmed and beaten by what looked like a mob of young, black males. As the local anchor described the scene, a picture of the victim was shown: It was a young, white high school student named Jonathan Lewis, Jr. It was heartbreaking to know that the savagery and brutality of the attack I viewed resulted in his death a few days later in the hospital.
He never regained consciousness.
I had been waiting for days to see how the mainstream media, the ones whose headlines scream the loudest when it is white-on-black crime, would handle this. Surely a devastating story like this deserved the cacophony of “wailing and gnashing of teeth” with 24/7 coverage for days on end that so often accompanies similar stories when the races are reversed. But, barely a peep. If you read the headlines—once publications finally decided to speak on it—you can’t tell the race of the victim or attackers.
NOW, contrast those with the headlines of the shooting of black youth Ralph Yarl, by a white homeowner earlier this year. The coverage was unrelenting and factored race into the headlines.
When the mainstream media landscape chooses to run with a prescribed narrative, it is difficult not to get swept up in the fervor and hysteria of the bombardment from newspapers, television, radio, pontificating pundits, and also social media outlets, ad nauseam. It causes a groundswell of emotion, and oftentimes we demand that something be done—even before all the facts have been gathered. “We want justice for the black victim, and we want it NOW!”
What most people do not realize is that about 90% of the media we consume is “controlled” by six corporations, and oftentimes those six behemoths are directing (coordinating?) similar information points to be spewed to the masses. The six companies are: National Amusements, Disney, TimeWarner, Comcast, NewsCorp, and Sony. (Scroll short video below.)

Malcolm X once stated: “The media's the most powerful entity on earth. They have the power to make the innocent guilty and to make the guilty innocent, and that's power. Because they control the minds of the masses.”
I CANNOT emphasize just how powerful and TRUE Malcolm’s statement is in our era. When we look at the propaganda that was forced on us in recent years by every major media outlet regarding all things COVID, “safe and effective” vaccines, Steele Dossier, Hunter Biden’s laptop, 2020 being the most secure election in history, etc., you can see how easily one can be bamboozled. When the powers-that-be decide on a narrative to sway our thinking a particular way, it is hard to combat the information overload—and it evokes reactions that can cause detrimental results.
Check out the short video below. It is a salient example of talking points that were disseminated (by whom?) to a myriad of news stations who, in turn, fed it to us. (Malcolm X’s aforementioned quote coming to life.)
In the past, this operation would logically be a part of “Operation Mockingbird” run by the CIA where it “aimed to manipulate news stories, shape public opinion, and disseminate propaganda…”

A powerful paragraph from the above article:
The Manipulation of Truth
“One of the most alarming aspects of Operation Mockingbird was its ability to distort the truth. Journalists, often unaware of their CIA ties, unknowingly became mouthpieces for the agency's narratives. Stories were slanted, facts were manipulated, and dissenting voices were silenced (my bold). As a result, the American public was fed a distorted version of reality, blurring the lines between genuine journalism and government propaganda (my bold).”
Unfortunately, remnants of the insidious program still exist today (see the TwitterFiles as an egregious example); therefore, we must remain vigilant, utilizing our critical thinking skills in this information age and not just accept what the media spoonfeeds us in order to manipulate us.
Back to Jonathan Lewis, Jr. Was his beating and death a hate crime because most of the assailants were black? I assume we will find out as details emerge. However, the way the media handled his case by NOT focusing on the skin color of the victim and assailants should be the way they ALWAYS handle a controversial news story. Additionally, they should not downplay a story if it is black-on-white crime as opposed to vice versa. Impartiality is the key.
Our information outlets simply cannot continue down this tendentious path—manipulating our feelings and raw emotions to produce an outcome desired by the stakeholders/oligarchs/activists. It already feels like our country is on the precipice of a volcanic eruption between different factions.
So, the next time a story erupts to fan the flames of our emotions, particularly about race or guns, stop and think about WHO might be pushing the information and WHY it is being pushed.
And on the flip side, if you notice a story being suppressed, WHO might be suppressing it, and WHY is it being suppressed?
Critical thinkers and cooler heads need to prevail.
